Amman Arab University (AAU) Pharmacy Students Turn Academic Knowledge into Innovative Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Products
As part of Amman Arab University’s (AAU) commitment to fostering innovation, academic excellence, and hands-on skills, pharmacy students presented a distinguished set of productive scientific projects. The initiative showcased their ability to turn theoretical knowledge into viable, evaluable pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, reinforcing their practical experience and entrepreneurial mindset under the supervision of Dr. Nuseibah Al-Qtaish, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy.
Presented as part of a specialized practical projects course, the student innovations included: Stabilized Vitamin C Brightening Serum (10%), formulated with ferulic acid and vitamin E to maximize stability and antioxidant potency, targeting hyperpigmentation and skin radiance. It also incorporates sodium hyaluronate for deep hydration. salicylic Acid Patches for Corn Removal (20%), Designed to safely and effectively dissolve thick keratin layers. The patch utilizes a cold cream base to protect and moisturize surrounding healthy tissue, along with alcohol to sanitize the area and prevent infection. Natural, Cost-Effective Lip Balm, a clean, balanced formula combining beeswax for structure, shea butter for deep nourishment and smooth texture, and rose oil for a softening finish and gentle fragrance.”Lumera Derm” Anti-Blue Light Protective Cream (SPF 30), formulated with carotenoids and antioxidants—specifically lutein and beta-carotene—to defend skin cells against oxidative stress, premature aging, and hyperpigmentation caused by prolonged digital screen exposure. It is packaged in light-blocking containers to prevent photodegradation.
These projects highlight the students’ focus on delivering high-quality, effective products. They reflect the faculty’s ongoing mission to bridge theory and practice, equipping graduates with the scientific competence and commercial awareness needed for today’s market.
