Amman Arab University (AAU) Organizes an Applied Scientific Visit to Introduce Students to the Latest Drone Technologies at Hover Up
As part of Amman Arab University’s ongoing efforts to provide an educational environment that combines academic knowledge with practical experience and enhance students’ engagement in modern technological fields, the Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) – Amman Arab University Branch, in cooperation with the Aerospace and Electronics Society – Al-Balqa Applied University/Polytechnic Branch, organized a scientific and applied visit to Hover Up, supported by the Deanship of Student Affairs and supervised by the Faculty of Aviation Sciences at Amman Arab University, with the participation of Dr. Bashar Badr, Supervisor of the Aerospace and Electronics Society and a faculty member at the Faculty of Aviation Sciences at the University.
The visit aimed to provide students with a specialized practical experience and introduce them to the latest technologies and applications in the field of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), thereby contributing to linking academic knowledge with practical applications in the aviation and technology sectors and enhancing their skills in dealing with modern technologies. The program included a number of training and practical activities, including an introduction to different types of unmanned aerial vehicles and their operating mechanisms, in addition to experiencing the flight and control of Fixed-Wing aircraft, as well as training on FPV aircraft and learning about their operating systems and methods of control.
The visit also included a field tour of Hover Up’s facilities, during which the students explored a number of specialized facilities, including a drone racing track, a drifting and four-wheel-drive vehicle track, and a motorcycle racing track, in addition to learning about the key technologies and systems used in these facilities in accordance with international specifications and standards.
The students also explored a range of advanced applications in drone technology, most notably aerial surveying, aerial photography, and the use of artificial intelligence technologies in operating drones and developing their various applications, reflecting the rapid development witnessed by the unmanned aerial vehicle sector and the increasing use of these technologies in technical and professional fields.
This visit comes as part of Amman Arab University’s efforts to support scientific and practical activities and provide students with valuable opportunities to become acquainted with real-world work environments and modern technologies related to their specializations. This contributes to strengthening communication and cooperation between academic institutions and organizations operating in the aviation and technology sectors.
The participating students expressed the importance of this visit in enhancing their knowledge and practical experience, emphasizing that direct exposure to modern technologies in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the opportunity to operate and control them, contributed to linking the academic knowledge they acquire with practical application and broadened their understanding of the opportunities and applications in this field, thereby enhancing their readiness for the requirements of the labor market.
