Bioinformatics Applications Genomic Data Analysis 2026

Amman Arab University (AAU) Holds a Specialized Lecture Entitled: “Applications of Bioinformatics in Genomic Data Analysis”

As part of Arab Amman University’s vision to provide a stimulating educational environment that fosters creativity and innovation, and in line with the College of Applied Medical Sciences’ commitment to strengthening academic engagement with its students and enhancing their scientific and practical knowledge, the College organized a specialized workshop entitled “Applications of Bioinformatics in Genomic Data Analysis.”

The workshop was delivered by Ms. Hanin Al-Jamal, a specialist in Genomic Sciences, and was attended by the Acting Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Wisam Al-Wazni, the Head of the Department of Medical Sciences, Dr. Bilal Al-Shomali, in addition to a number of faculty members and students enrolled in the Bioinformatics Program.

The workshop aimed to introduce students to the practical applications of bioinformatics in the fields of genomic data analysis and disease diagnosis, while highlighting the pivotal role of these technologies in interpreting biological data and utilizing it to develop advanced therapeutic solutions. It also provided students with an opportunity for direct interaction, enabling them to raise questions regarding bioinformatics applications and recent developments in the field, as well as to explore the future prospects of this discipline and its growing importance in scientific research and modern medical sciences. This, in turn, contributes to broadening their knowledge and enhancing their research and technical competencies.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the latest methodologies, technologies, and software tools employed in drug discovery and design. The session showcased leading digital platforms and analytical tools that accelerate pharmaceutical research through the utilization of genomic data. Ms. Al-Jamal emphasized that bioinformatics has become a cornerstone of modern medical sciences, providing advanced solutions that support researchers and scientists in developing more effective and cost-efficient medications. She further noted that proficiency in these technologies has become a fundamental skill for graduates of contemporary medical and scientific disciplines.

The workshop witnessed significant engagement from participating students, who expressed considerable interest in the scientific content presented and demonstrated a strong eagerness to benefit from the expertise and knowledge shared. The interactive learning environment contributed to enhancing their understanding of modern bioinformatics applications and their role in advancing healthcare and scientific research.

This workshop forms part of a series of scientific and training activities organized by the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Arab Amman University, reflecting its commitment to bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application and empowering students with the technical expertise and academic competencies necessary to excel and compete in the fields of scientific research and medical innovation.
