Amman Arab University (AAU) Participates in the Jordan Freshers Coding Cup (JFCC 2026)
In line with Amman Arab University’s mission to support academic excellence and encourage student creativity and innovation, the College of Information Technology participated in the first edition of the Jordan Freshers Coding Cup (JFCC 2026), hosted by the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology at the University of Jordan, with the participation of a select group of Jordanian public and private universities.
The competition aims to develop the skills of first-year students in competitive programming and enhance their abilities in problem-solving and algorithm design, contributing to the preparation of a generation of programmers capable of competing and innovating. Five student teams from the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University participated in the competition, comprising 15 male and female students: Aya Mazq, Raneem Al-Alam, Nour Al-Hamad, Ro’a Ziyada, Khuzayma Bader, Raneem Al-Araj, Samah Al-Ghunaimat, Farah Abdullah, Salwa Ibrahim, Lin Qaddoura, Nourseen Abu Ayyash, Rama Salah, Alaa Amreer, Bushra Al-Jabr, and Bushra Al-Yousef.
The students participated in intensive programming challenges that focused on problem analysis, algorithm design, and teamwork within a competitive environment. The experience contributed to refining their technical skills, connecting academic knowledge with practical applications, and enhancing their readiness for the job market.
The students were supervised by Miss Randa Al-Wadi, a faculty member at the College of Information Technology, who followed up on their preparations and provided continuous support and guidance throughout the competition. Her supervision contributed to enhancing the students’ preparedness and fostering a strong spirit of teamwork throughout this programming experience.
On this occasion, Dr. Rami Sihwail, Dean of the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, emphasized that the University’s participation in this competition reflects the College’s commitment to nurturing student talent and providing opportunities that contribute to developing their technical and innovative skills. He noted that such participation aligns with the College’s vision of preparing graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for success and excellence in the job market.
Dr. Dr. Firas Eid Abu Adas, Head of the Computer Science Department at the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, affirmed that students’ participation in such competitions provides a valuable opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a real-world competitive environment. It also promotes logical thinking, problem-solving, and the development of effective software solutions. He noted that supporting student participation in national competitions is part of the Department’s commitment to strengthening the practical aspects of education and encouraging students to enhance their programming skills in line with the demands of the job market.
This participation reflects Amman Arab University’s commitment to maintaining an active presence in national academic competitions and forums and providing its students with opportunities to apply their academic knowledge in competitive environments, gain practical experience, and develop their skills in competitive programming, teamwork, and innovation.
