Amman Arab University’s (AAU) College of Pharmacy Organizes Lecture for Postgraduate Students on Cosmetics Registration Regulations in Jordan
Driven by Amman Arab University’s commitment to enhancing the quality of its academic programs and aligning its educational outcomes with professional expertise and labor market demands, the College of Pharmacy organized a specialized scientific lecture titled: “Regulatory Requirements for Registration of Cosmetics and Cosmeceutical Products in Jordan.”
The lecture was held for students pursuing a Master’s degree in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs as part of the course “Special Topics in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs.” The session was supervised by Professor Rana Abu-Huwaij, Dean of the College of Pharmacy. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Hanan Qassad, a specialized pharmaceutical expert and consultant in various pharmaceutical and regulatory fields. Dr. Qassad is also a former member of the Central Committees for Pharmacy and Therapeutics at the Ministry of Health, the technical committees at the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), and the cosmetics committees.
During the lecture, Dr. Qassad addressed the specific regulatory requirements for registering cosmetics and cosmeceutical products in Jordan. This included the legislative and regulatory frameworks, product classification, and required technical documentation. She also outlined the evaluation procedures for quality, safety, and efficacy in accordance with the regulations and instructions approved by the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA). Furthermore, she highlighted the practical aspects of regulatory practice and the challenges associated with preparing and reviewing registration dossiers. Dr. Qassad also reviewed practical experiences and real-world case studies to enhance the students’ understanding of regulatory mechanisms and bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional application.
The lecture witnessed outstanding scientific interaction from the students, featured by specialized discussions and in-depth questions that reflected their strong interest in pharmacovigilance, regulatory affairs, and cosmetics. These discussions helped enhance their professional skills and raised their readiness to enter the labor market efficiently and competently. For her part, Dr. Abu-Huwaij expressed her appreciation to Dr. Qassad for her valuable scientific contribution and for sharing her practical expertise with the students. She emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with experts and specialists from national institutions, noting its vital role in enriching the educational process and providing students with modern applied knowledge and skills that meet the evolving needs of the pharmaceutical sector.
