As part of Amman Arab University’s commitment to strengthening its academic presence and fostering collaboration and integration with higher education institutions, and under the directives of the University President, Professor Mohammad Al-Widyan, with the continuous support of Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Kamal Haddad, a faculty member in the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering, participated in the discussion and evaluation of graduation projects presented by Architecture students at Middle East University, following an official invitation from the host institution.
Dr. Haddad served as a juror for the evaluation of students’ projects in the Architectural Design (4) course, supervised by Dr. Mohammad Hamdan and Eng. Hanan Hayajneh, faculty members at Middle East University. The evaluation session was attended by Member of Parliament Hamza Al-Hawamdeh, Mr. Mohammad Bani Yaseen, Chairman of the Greater Jerash Municipality, as well as the municipality’s engineering team and a panel of academic and professional jurors.
This participation took place within the framework of the Project-Based Learning (PBL) program, which aims to strengthen the integration between academic outcomes and the needs of society and the labor market. Students presented a range of innovative design concepts for a community center intended to serve the residents of Jerash Governorate while addressing one of the city’s most significant urban challenges: enhancing connectivity between the old and new parts of the city within the tourist district. The proposed designs sought to support urban development and reinforce the city’s unique identity.
The projects were assessed according to established academic and professional standards, with constructive feedback and recommendations provided to help students refine their design skills and improve the quality of their architectural outcomes. Dr. Haddad also reviewed the diverse design visions developed by the student teams, praising their creativity and their ability to apply contemporary architectural and urban planning concepts to address developmental and urban issues through innovative design solutions that respond to the needs and aspirations of the local community.
This participation reflects Amman Arab University’s ongoing commitment to expanding academic collaboration with local universities, promoting the exchange of expertise, and contributing to the continuous advancement of architectural education.
