College of Aviation Sciences at Amman Arab University (AAU) Holds a Scientific Lecture Titled “Troubleshooting of Engine Instrumentation from a Pilot’s Perspective”
As part of Amman Arab University’s commitment to developing the quality of applied education and enhancing the integration between theoretical knowledge and professional applications in the aviation sector, the College of Aviation Sciences organized a specialized scientific lecture entitled “Troubleshooting of Engine Instrumentation from a Pilot’s Perspective.” The lecture hosted Captain Dr. Andrew Donisky.
Dr. Donisky is considered one of the distinguished academic and professional experts. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Nebraska–Lincoln, in addition to an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) in both the United States and Canada. He also possesses practical experience that combines engineering design and professional aviation operations through piloting and training on several aircraft, including the Beechcraft King Air and Cessna Citation Jet. This background enabled him to deliver the lecture from a perspective that integrated engineering analysis with direct operational experience.
Professor Dr. Malik Al-Salem Al-Anaqrah, Dean of the College of Aviation Sciences, opened the lecture with a welcoming address in which he emphasized the importance of attracting international expertise to support the educational process and develop students’ skills, thereby enhancing their ability to bridge academic study with practical application. The event was attended by Dr. Manal Mustafa, a faculty member at the College of Aviation Sciences.
The lecture addressed practical applications related to engine instrumentation malfunctions and cockpit indicator failures, highlighting the role of pilots’ observations in assisting maintenance teams with fault diagnosis, particularly those issues that arise during flight. It also emphasized the importance of effective communication between pilots and maintenance technicians as a key factor in enhancing aviation safety.
The lecture witnessed strong engagement from students, who discussed advanced topics including fault troubleshooting, aircraft maintenance, digital display systems in the cockpit, the use of virtual reality in training, and the future of Vertical Take-Off and Landing Aircraft (VTOL).
This lecture comes as part of the efforts of the College of Aviation Sciences at Amman Arab University to host specialized experts, contributing to the enrichment of students’ applied knowledge and enhancing their professional readiness to enter the local and regional labor market with a high level of competence and efficiency.
