Research Achievement for an AAU Master’s Student in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs at the Society of Pharmacovigilance Conference in Saudi Arabia
As part of Amman Arab University’s (AAU) commitment to fostering a culture of scientific research and encouraging its students to actively participate in international scientific conferences and forums—thereby developing their research and academic skills and enhancing their scientific presence at regional and international levels—Ghada Al-Huwaill, a Master’s student in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs, participated in the 1st Society of Pharmacovigilance Conference. The event was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the participation of an elite group of experts, specialists, and representatives from prestigious health and regulatory authorities, including the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), and the Saudi Patient Safety Center, in addition to several healthcare institutions and pharmaceutical companies.
During the conference, Ms. Al-Huwaill presented a research paper titled: “Arrhythmia Associated with Antiepileptic Drugs: Review FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) Database.” The study analyzed cardiac arrhythmia associated with the use of antiepileptic drugs, relying on data from FDA Adverse Event Reporting System. The research achieved outstanding recognition, winning third place for Best Poster Presentation. This achievement reflects the high quality of the scientific research and its academic outcomes, confirming the ability of Amman Arab University students to compete and excel in specialized scientific forums.
In this regard, Professor Prof. Rana Abu-Huwaij, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, emphasized that this achievement reflects the distinguished academic and research level of the faculty’s students. She noted that it embodies the college’s dedication to supporting applied scientific research and encouraging students to participate in international scientific conferences to hone their research skills and enhance their scientific presence. Prof. Abu-Huwaij highlighted AAU’s continuous commitment to supporting and empowering its students to engage in specialized research and scientific activities, providing an academic environment that stimulates creativity and innovation. This contributes to preparing qualified professionals capable of competing and excelling locally and internationally, reflecting the advanced scientific standing of the university and its various academic programs.
