The College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University (AAU) hosted one of its graduates for a lecture on “Practical Concepts and Applications in Penetration Testing”
As part of Amman Arab University’s commitment to fostering communication between students and graduates and exchanging practical experiences, and in order to bridge the gap between theory and practice, the College of Information Technology hosted distinguished graduate Alaa Fakhoury, who currently works at a cybersecurity company, to deliver a specialized lecture entitled: “Practical Concepts and Applications in Penetration Testing.” The lecture was attended by Dr. Kamal Alieyan, Assistant Dean of the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University.
Fakhoury began his lecture by discussing the importance of field training and its pivotal role in shaping students’ career paths. He noted that his own experience during his internship was a turning point, contributing to his securing a job immediately after graduation. During the lecture, he covered the fundamental concepts of penetration testing, highlighting the most prominent tools and techniques used to discover security vulnerabilities. He also presented practical applications reflecting the realities of working in cybersecurity and the challenges faced by professionals in this sector. At the end of the session, Fakhoury offered students a range of practical advice, emphasizing the importance of developing technical skills, enrolling in specialized courses, and building early practical experience to enhance their job prospects.
The lecture witnessed significant student engagement, with many students asking questions and seeking clarification on the field of cybersecurity and its career paths. The lecturer provided answers based on his practical experience. This lecture was part of a series of meetings organized by the College of Information Technology to foster communication with graduates, connect students with the demands of the job market, and broaden their professional horizons.
In this regard, Dr. Rami Sahwil, Dean of the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, stressed that these meetings constitute an important opportunity to transfer practical experiences to students and enhance their professional readiness, in line with Amman Arab University’s vision of preparing qualified personnel capable of competing in the labor market.
