Amman Arab University (AAU) Wins the Khalil Al-Salem Agricultural Award in Its Ninth Edition for 2026
In a new scientific achievement added to the record of accomplishments of Amman Arab University and its faculty members, and under the patronage of former Prime Minister Dr. Adnan Badran, Dr. Omar Ahmad, a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering, received the Khalil Al-Salem Agricultural Award in its ninth edition for 2026. The award was presented during a ceremony held at the University of Petra and organized by the Khalil Al-Salem Charitable Society and the Khadoori/Tulkarm Alumni Club.
The ceremony honored a distinguished group of researchers and academics for their outstanding contributions in the fields of agriculture, food security, water resources, and water conservation. Dr. Ahmad received the Khalil Al-Salem Agricultural Award in its ninth edition for 2026 in the category of Best Scientific Research in Water Resources and Water Conservation, in recognition of a scientific paper published during the past five years. The award certificate stated that Dr. Ahmad received the award based on the recommendation of the specialized judging committee, in recognition of the scientific excellence and research value of the winning study.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widian, President of Amman Arab University, affirmed that Dr. Omar Ahmad’s achievement represents a significant scientific accomplishment that reflects the distinguished caliber of the University’s academic and research expertise. He noted that the achievement embodies the University’s commitment to supporting applied scientific research and directing its outcomes toward developing solutions to national and regional challenges, particularly those related to water security, sustainability, and natural resource management. He further noted that Amman Arab University continues to provide a stimulating academic and research environment for faculty members and researchers, encouraging them to actively participate in scientific awards and specialized academic forums, thereby strengthening the University’s presence and standing in the academic and research community.
For his part, Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the College of Engineering at Amman Arab University, congratulated Dr. Omar Ahmad on this achievement, emphasizing that receiving a specialized award in the field of water resources and water conservation represents a significant addition to the College of Engineering’s record of research achievements. He noted that the award reflects the College’s commitment to supporting impactful scientific research, particularly studies addressing challenges related to water resource management, efficient utilization, and sustainability amid the increasing pressures facing the water sector.
Dr. Ahmad, in turn, expressed his pride in receiving this recognition, commending the support provided by the President of Amman Arab University and the Dean of the College of Engineering to researchers and faculty members.
