Amman Arab University (AAU) Research Participation on Artificial Intelligence and Delay Risk Management in Engineering Projects
As part of Amman Arab University’s commitment to strengthening its research presence at specialized scientific conferences, keeping pace with recent developments in engineering, project management, and digital transformation, and under the guidance of Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, and with the follow-up and support of Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the University participated in the International Conference entitled “Digital Arbitration in Engineering Contracts in Light of Global Developments.” The two-day conference brought together a distinguished group of researchers, academics, and experts from a range of scientific and professional disciplines.
As part of Amman Arab University’s participation in the conference, Eng. Mona Al-Momani, a faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering, presented a research paper entitled:
“AI-Assisted Schedule Review for Identifying Delay-Sensitive Activities in Road Construction Projects: A Case Study of the Wadi Al-Ish Project in Jordan.”
The study examined the role of artificial intelligence tools in supporting the review of schedules for road construction projects through a case study of the Wadi Al-Ish Road Project in Jordan. It focused on identifying delay-sensitive work packages and activities and enhancing early documentation in construction projects, thereby contributing to informed decision-making and helping prevent the escalation of engineering claims and disputes.
During her participation, Eng. Al-Momani emphasized that artificial intelligence tools, including nPlan Schedule Studio, can serve as supporting tools for reviewing project schedules, analyzing activity sequences, and identifying areas of planning risk. She stressed, however, that such tools do not replace the role of the engineering expert or project manager, nor do they substitute for specialized contractual analysis, particularly in matters related to extensions of time and arbitration in engineering contracts.
